Terms of Service

These Terms explain the rules for using OpenRTC Hub and related hosted features.

Effective date: July 2, 2026

1. What OpenRTC Hub Provides

OpenRTC Hub is a hosted demonstration and collaboration app for OpenRTC-powered real-time experiences, including shared cursors, file transfer demos, collaborative editing, sandbox rooms, and related developer tools.

The Hub may include free, beta, preview, paid, or usage-limited features. Some capabilities may rely on browser APIs, third-party infrastructure, network availability, or peer devices, so performance and availability can vary.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You may use OpenRTC Hub only if you can legally enter into these Terms and are not barred from using the service under applicable law. If you use the Hub for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

Some features may not require an account. If an account, invite, API key, or access token is provided, you are responsible for keeping it secure and for activity that occurs through it.

3. Acceptable Use

Please use the Hub responsibly. You may not use it to harm others, interfere with service operation, bypass access controls, overload infrastructure, reverse engineer non-public systems, transmit malware, violate privacy rights, or share unlawful, abusive, infringing, or harmful content.

We may rate limit, suspend, block, remove access to rooms or demos, or take other reasonable steps when needed to protect users, the service, our infrastructure, or legal compliance.

4. Your Content and Data

You keep ownership of the text, files, messages, cursor activity, room data, and other material you or your devices send through the Hub. You grant us the limited rights needed to transmit, route, store temporarily, secure, debug, and operate the Hub.

OpenRTC is designed so application payloads are encrypted in transit and, where possible, delivered peer-to-peer. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use your content to train machine learning models.

5. Payments, Plans, and Billing Changes

Some current or future Hub, OpenRTC, portal, or developer features may be offered under paid plans, metered usage, trials, credits, or promotional pricing. Prices, included usage, feature availability, billing intervals, limits, and taxes may change over time.

We may introduce, modify, or retire plans and pricing when needed for product, operational, vendor, infrastructure, or business reasons. When a change materially affects an active paid plan, we will use reasonable efforts to provide notice before it takes effect, unless the change is required sooner for security, legal, abuse-prevention, or third-party-provider reasons.

Unless we state otherwise, fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly promised in writing. If a payment fails, we may suspend or limit paid features until payment is resolved.

6. Updates and Changes to the Service

We may update, improve, replace, limit, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Hub at any time. This includes changing APIs, demos, beta features, access rules, storage behavior, usage limits, documentation, and supported environments.

We try to avoid unnecessary disruption, but we need flexibility to ship fixes, improve reliability, manage cost, respond to abuse, comply with law, and evolve the product.

7. Open Source and Third-Party Services

Parts of OpenRTC may be offered under open-source licenses. Those licenses apply to the covered code and do not replace these Terms for hosted Hub services.

The Hub may use third-party providers for hosting, analytics, authentication, payments, logging, communications, or infrastructure. Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy practices.

8. Intellectual Property

OpenRTC, OpenRTC Hub, the hosted service, branding, UI, documentation, and related materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you ownership of our service or marks.

You may provide feedback or suggestions. We may use that feedback without restriction or obligation to you.

9. Disclaimers

The Hub is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, and error-free operation.

Beta, preview, sandbox, and demo features may be incomplete, unstable, rate limited, or changed without notice. Do not rely on the Hub as your only copy of important data.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or loss of goodwill.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims relating to the Hub or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Hub in the three months before the claim or 100 US dollars.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Hub at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk, fail to pay amounts owed, or if we discontinue the service.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including payment obligations, intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute provisions.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will use reasonable efforts to provide notice, such as posting an updated effective date or providing in-app or email notice where available.

Your continued use of the Hub after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
