Privacy Policy

This Policy explains what OpenRTC Hub collects, what we avoid collecting, and how we use data to provide the app.

Effective date: July 2, 2026

1. Our Privacy Commitment

OpenRTC Hub is built for real-time collaboration without unnecessary surveillance. We respect your privacy, collect as little information as practical, and use data primarily to provide, secure, debug, and improve the app.

We do not design OpenRTC Hub to read the contents of people's shared files, editor text, application payloads, cursor streams, or private collaboration data. When data moves through OpenRTC, it is encrypted in transit and, where possible, exchanged directly between peers.

2. Information We Collect

Many Hub demos can be used without creating an account. The operational data we collect is generally anonymous or pseudonymous and is used to make the app function.

  • Connection and room metadata, such as room IDs, peer or device identifiers, session state, presence status, timestamps, feature flags, and routing or signaling events.
  • Technical logs, such as browser type, device type, IP-derived network information, error reports, performance metrics, rate-limit events, and security signals.
  • Usage metrics, such as which demos are opened, aggregate interaction counts, latency, reliability, and capacity measurements.
  • Information you choose to provide, such as support messages, feedback, email address, account details, or billing information for paid features.

3. What We Do Not Read

We do not intentionally inspect, sell, or mine the contents of your collaboration data. That includes file contents, editor contents, application payloads, and peer-to-peer messages sent through the demos.

Limited access could occur only when technically necessary to operate or secure the service, when you ask us to troubleshoot something, when required by law, or when content is reported or reasonably suspected to involve abuse, security risk, or illegal activity.

4. How We Use Information

  • Provide real-time rooms, presence, signaling, file-transfer demos, sandbox sessions, and related Hub functionality.
  • Measure reliability, latency, capacity, errors, and service health using aggregate or pseudonymous data.
  • Prevent abuse, fraud, spam, attacks, unauthorized access, and infrastructure overload.
  • Respond to support requests, feedback, legal obligations, and user communications.
  • Manage current or future paid plans, credits, subscriptions, invoices, tax records, and payment-provider requirements.
  • Improve OpenRTC, documentation, demos, and developer experience.

5. Sharing Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the Hub, comply with law, protect rights and safety, complete business transactions, or with your direction.

Service providers may process data for hosting, Firebase services, logging, analytics, payments, email, security, and support. They are allowed to use the information only for the services they provide to us.

6. Retention

We keep operational logs, room metadata, analytics, and support records only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required for legal, security, billing, accounting, or abuse-prevention reasons.

Ephemeral collaboration data may expire quickly or exist mainly on participating devices, but you should not use the Hub as your sole storage location for important information.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect data, including transport encryption, scoped credentials, access controls, monitoring, and separation between OpenRTC consumer app identities.

No internet service is perfectly secure. You are responsible for using appropriate room links, device security, browser security, and access controls for your own use case.

8. Your Choices

  • You can stop using the Hub at any time.
  • You can clear local browser storage, cookies, and cached data through your browser settings.
  • You can avoid sharing sensitive content through public or untrusted room links.
  • You can contact support@openrtc.app to ask about access, deletion, correction, or privacy questions, subject to identity verification and legal limits.

9. Children

OpenRTC Hub is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

10. International Use

The Hub may be operated from, hosted in, or accessed from the United States and other locations. By using the Hub, you understand that information may be processed in countries with privacy laws different from your own.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Hub changes. If changes are material, we will use reasonable efforts to provide notice, such as posting a new effective date or providing in-app or email notice where available.

12. Contact

Questions about privacy can be sent to support@openrtc.app.
